Leadership Series: Developing People Through Training, Coaching, and Mentoring

Part of the Georgia Southern University Division of Continuing and Professional Education Leadership Series, this course focuses on effective people development strategies, equipping participants with essential tools to foster growth, empower teams, and cultivate a supportive organizational culture.

Participants will explore the fundamental principles and practical applications of training, coaching, and mentoring in professional settings. Through interactive sessions and case studies, attendees will:

  • Identify Developmental Needs: Assess individual and team strengths and weaknesses to identify specific developmental needs within their organization.
  • Design Effective Training Programs: Gain the skills to design and implement targeted training programs that address identified developmental gaps and enhance employee competencies.
  • Apply Coaching Techniques: Learn and apply effective coaching techniques to support ongoing skill development, improve performance, and foster a culture of continuous learning within their teams.
  • Establish Mentoring Relationships: Understand the principles of mentoring and be able to establish and maintain productive mentoring relationships that promote professional growth and leadership development among team members.

A professor in the Parker College of Business School of Accountancy, Stephanie Sipe joined the faculty of Georgia Southern University in 2005. Prior to joining the faculty of Georgia Southern in 2005, Professor Sipe taught business law and human resource management courses at Eastern Mennonite University and James Madison University.

She also practiced law in Virginia for 12 years, where she specialized in civil litigation and developed an expertise in employment law issues. She has appeared in state and federal trial and appellate courts, including the Virginia Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and was counsel of record on a case appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

This course is ideal for current and aspiring leaders, HR professionals, team managers, and supervisors who are responsible for team development and leadership within their organizations.
