The Faculty Center provides and supports teaching and learning through face-to-face, online, or blended classroom environments. The Faculty Center supports faculty with the research-based pedagogical, technological and other resources for designing, implementing, assessing, and researching effective and innovative instructional strategies along with the use of learning technologies that foster academic excellence.

In alignment with Georgia Southern University’s mission to pursue academic excellence in teaching and foster student success, the Faculty Center provides a broad range of professional development programs and services. The Faculty Center supports faculty with research-based pedagogical, technological and other resources for designing, implementing, assessing, and researching effective and innovative instructional strategies.

Our Vision

To promote a culture of reflective practice, teaching excellence, and scholarship of teaching and learning to foster success for the 21st-century student and to build a teaching commons.

Our Goals

Serve as a liaison between university faculty and faculty development opportunities across the University System of Georgia engage with faculty regarding professional development, especially in areas related to research-based best practices in online, blended, and face-to-face instruction, classroom assessment, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning recognize and reward excellence and innovation in teaching and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning pursue scholarly activities to contribute to the body of knowledge surrounding the field of innovative quality instruction. Collaborate with others to assist faculty in designing, implementing, and assessing innovative instruction as well as identifying resources to manage faculty professional responsibilities. Promote to the campus various opportunities for faculty development through different modalities.
