February 1, 2021: Fall Schedule

Dear Deans, Directors, and Chairs,

Our office has received several questions about the Fall schedule after we shared some best practices and advice for scheduling with you in an email on January 21. Thank you for your questions and I appreciate everyone’s eagerness to get started on scheduling.

Dr. Herringer and Dr. Myers invited us to attend the Thursday Chairs Council to discuss some of those questions. We were able to follow up on topics addressed at the Deans, Directors, and Department Chairs meeting at the beginning of the semester. We also discussed some other questions in more detail.

To summarize, as of now, we are planning to roll out the most recent pre-pandemic schedule (Fall 2019) as the starting point for the Fall 2021 schedule. With the distribution of the vaccine, we anticipate an environment that looks more like the Fall of 2019. Obviously, it is too early for any final decisions. If 2020 has taught us anything, it is the need for all of us to be flexible and innovative.

We want to provide some additional time for chairs to complete and vet the schedule. Schedule edits need to be submitted by February 10. The Registrar’s office will follow-up with the departmental room scheduling deadline.

Spring 2021 is another atypical term, but all the hard work you put in during the Spring and Fall semesters of 2020 continues to pay off, helping our students excel in this challenging time. Thank you for being excellent models for them.

Please share this information with your faculty and staff.

Sincerely,

Carl L. Reiber

Provost & Vice President Academic Affairs
