November 16, 2020: Preparing for Spring Term
Dear Faculty,
As we near the Thanksgiving holiday and reflect on the progression of the semester so far, I want to express my thanks for all your hard work this term. I know it hasn’t been easy. Working under the unique challenges wrought by a global pandemic and a contentious election, your tireless efforts have made this semester a success. Thanks to you, we have met the needs of the moment while maintaining our educational activities at a high level. I am grateful for your continued dedication to our students.
With our students’ success in mind, we must now prepare for the Spring term. Students are beginning to register for classes, and they need to review their syllabi and see how their classes will be delivered, whether that’s face-to-face, online, or some hybrid model. So please update your Folio sites as soon as possible with at least a basic syllabus and mode of course delivery. “News Items” are an easy way to convey this information. We want to be as transparent as possible with students about course delivery.
Our office has received a significant number of faculty requesting ADA accommodations. We will do everything we can to meet the needs of our faculty and students, but we must do everything in our power to keep our online class percentage as low as possible. If you encounter any problems with scheduling, please make us aware of them so we can work with you.
Please be on the lookout for more information from my office regarding Spring scheduling.
Thank you again for your hard work and dedication. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving with family and loved ones.
Sincerely,
Carl L. Reiber
Provost & Vice President Academic Affairs
