Terms of Use
Anyone who wishes to utilize the Virtual Collaboration Center (VCC) must agree to our terms and conditions.
- Space Usage
- Usage of the space is valid for any active student or faculty/staff member of Georgia Southern University, or any member of the public that has created an account.
- Upon entry, users must swipe in with their Eagle Card or Eagle Card Mobile ID if they are active students or faculty/staff members of Georgia Southern University.
- Virtual Collaboration Center computers should be used primarily for gaming; personal use (such as checking emails or social media) should be kept to a minimum. During peak usage, users who are not using the stations for gaming will lose access to those stations. This includes using the computers in a manner inconsistent with intended use (gaming), or circumventing measures on the computer to deter opening applications that are not natively available when logging in.
- Users bringing their own personal equipment must notify staff members when checking in. Users must remove their personal equipment and reset to the original setup when finished gaming.
- Users must notify staff of any damaged or malfunctioning equipment prior to use.
- Patrons are responsible for the care of all equipment they use in the arena. Any repair or replacement costs incurred due to misuse of equipment will be the individual’s responsibility.
- Computer Usage
- The Virtual Collaboration Center is not responsible for online experiences any user may have while utilizing the equipment in the center.
- Conduct and Noise
- Users of the Virtual Collaboration Center must comply at all times with any VCC staff directives and the VCC Code of Conduct, as well as the Georgia Southern University policies and procedures, including the Georgia Southern Code of Student Conduct.
- The Virtual Collaboration Center is a fun and competitive environment, but at times the space could house academic functions or events in the area. Users who do not decrease the noise levels upon request will be required to leave the VCC.
- Poor sportsmanship directed towards other visitors, cheating and/or toxic behavior will not be tolerated.
Policies and Procedures
The Virtual Collaboration Center is not responsible for experiences in online games played in the facility.
Refund Policy: All sales are final.
All games played in the VCC collaboration space must be rated “T for Teen” or below by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.
Alcohol and/or drug use is strictly prohibited. Smoking, vaping, and other tobacco products are also prohibited.
Personal items left unattended may be sent to lost and found at the Russell Union. The Virtual Collaboration Center staff are not responsible for any personal items left unattended.
Users may bring their own peripherals and equipment to use in the VCC, but they must be removed and reset to the original setup when finished gaming.
Rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, hoverboards, and any similar modes of personal transportation, are not allowed in the arena.
PC gaming stations and console gaming bays are currently available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Individual reservations are not available at this time.
The Virtual Collaboration Center encourages reporting of incidents involving Georgia Southern students. If you see behaviors inconsistent with the Georgia Southern Code of Student Conduct, please inform VCC staff immediately. You can report incidents involving students to the Dean of Students office through their Incident Referral Form.
To reserve time for esports-related practice, you must be (a) a registered student organization competing in a registered esports league, (b) registered as a student with the Eagle Esports club sport team through CRI. Practice sessions must be agreed upon by VCC leadership. Abuse or misuse of this privilege could result in your organization getting their access revoked and/or banishment from the PC area.
Console Gaming Station Policies
- Console gaming stations may be reserved for up to 60 minutes at a time with the option to extend for one additional 60-minute time block if no other patrons are waiting.
- Patrons are expected to vacate once a console reservation or PC station time allotment has been reached for the day.
- Gaming consoles and accessories are available to check out from the Reservation Desk at no cost for use inside the VCC. A valid Eagle Card or Eagle Card Mobile ID is required to check out equipment.
- Users are responsible for the care of all equipment in their possession. Any repair or replacement costs incurred due to misuse of equipment will be the responsibility of the person who checked out the equipment. Any damage to VCC equipment by a student, faculty/staff or community member is subject to Georgia Southern University policies and procedures, including the Georgia Southern Code of Student Conduct.
Eagle’s Edge Gaming Arena Policies
- PC gaming stations are currently available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Individual reservations are not available at this time.
- PC stations in the Esports practice area are reserved for confirmed esports groups or affiliated student organizations.
- ggLeap is the PC gaming management platform used in the Eagles Edge Gaming Arena. All game access is managed through ggLeap.
- Patrons must set up a ggLeap account to access the gaming platform.
- Patrons have access to a variety of free games and a limited amount of paid game licenses provided by the Eagles Edge Gaming Arena.
- Access to personal game licenses is permitted through ggLeap.
- Gameplay Limits: Each patron is permitted four (4) hours of gameplay per calendar day, per session. We encourage users take breaks between gaming sessions.
