Center for Social Gerontology
The Center for Social Gerontology was established in the fall of 2013 to support faculty across the Georgia Southern University Campus whose teaching, research and/or service focused on aging. Since that time, the Center has grown to include students and staff from the University, along with elder service providers and older adults from the region.

The Center is the home of the Senior Companion Program which pairs low-income older adult volunteers with older adults and people with disabilities.
This minor focuses on the impacts of age on society and the impacts of age on the psychological, physical, social and economic experiences of individuals.
This conference promotes successful aging and positive social change. Our goals are to enhance the quality of life, mental and physical health, and social well-being of older adults at all levels of capability.
The Center also hosts an Annual Conference each fall. It provides educational opportunities for elder service providers, faculty and students. Faculty members collaborate with students and share their research as a way of connecting with attendees. Community members can find resources to support older adults from our community resources page.
The work of the Center is discussed at monthly meetings held over Zoom. Anyone is welcome to attend.
