Biography

Lindsay Jouben earned her PhD. at West Virginia University. She completed her MA in Political Science at Rutgers University-Newark and obtained a BA in Political Science and History from Mississippi State University. She has worked with Rutgers University-Newark, in developing their non-profit Institute on Ethnicity, where she worked with Dr. Clement Price and then Mayor Cory Booker in developing community focused outreach programs.

Dr. Jouben specializes in the impact that microfinance loans have on poverty, looking specifically at the local political and social conditions needed to create the necessary social capital for empowerment and poverty reduction. Additionally, her current research focuses on the impact of mentorship for women and minority faculty on their career paths in higher education. She is currently working on research that focuses on theories of social capital creation and mentorship benefits in the social science fields.
