Biography

Dr. Nalanda Roy holds the position of Professor within the Department of Political Science and International Studies at Georgia Southern University, where she also serves as the Coordinator of the Asian Studies program. At GSU, she holds the titles of Certified Diversity Executive and Inclusive Excellence Faculty Fellow. Dr. Roy has been recognized with prestigious awards including the Dr. Saba Jallow Inclusion Champion award, the Award of Excellence, and the Georgia Southern Women in Research Soar award. She also received the Campus Museum of Service Award for her creation of the An Integral History: Asian Studies Digital Archive.


An accomplished author, Dr. Roy has penned several books, notably including “Bitter Moments — The Story of Indonesian Fragmentation”, “The South China Sea Disputes — Past, Present, and Future”, “Exploring the Tripod: Immigration, Security, and Economy in the Post-9/11 Era”, “Navigating Uncertainty in the South China Sea Disputes: An Interdisciplinary Perspective”, and “Nonviolent Resistances in the Contemporary World: Case Studies from India, Poland, and Turkey”. Additionally, she has contributed numerous articles to journals and book chapters.


Dr. Roy’s involvement extends beyond academia; she has served as the section program chair for International Studies Association’s (ISA) South Asia in World Politics. She holds the senior editor position at the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of International Studies (OREIS) and sits on the editorial boards of esteemed publications such as Perspectives on Global Development and Technology, the Journal of the
Royal Society for Asian Affairs, and South Asian Survey.


Furthering her impact, Dr. Roy serves as a visiting scholar at the Center for Genocide and Human Rights
at Rutgers University. She has also been appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the FORE School of
Management, New Delhi, and as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at The West Bengal National
University of Juridical Sciences in India.
