IT Intern Job Description

Position: Business Innovation Group (BIG) Salesforce Internship

Location: Statesboro, Georgia

Compensation: $12.50 – WIOA funded

Organizational Overview:​ The Business Innovation Group (BIG), located in downtown Statesboro, is the business outreach arm of the Georgia Southern University, and is committed to developing a vibrant entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem for the southeast region. BIG provides resources for students and entrepreneurs to gain skills and training necessary to understand business principles, experience how businesses operate and successfully launch new enterprises. A College of Business Center, BIG consists of the following programs: Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development (BBRED), Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC), Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership (CELL), Innovation Incubator (I2), Digital Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) and the mentoring program SCORE.

The BIG is looking for an intern in the Information Technology/Information Systems field of study. Interested candidates must be flexible and self-starters. Projects and responsibilities include:

    • Creating reports in Salesforce to pull for grant reports
    • Work with BIG team to determine what data is needed
    • Create fields for input of data if not currently available
    • Map data flow for database management
    • Migrate data to Higher Education template
    • Customize data objects
    • Utilize online developer resources to assist with Salesforce development

Candidates must:

  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge of database management
  • Have coding experience (e.g. Python, JAVA, XML)
  • Have a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Have reliable transportation

Preferred experience

  • Prior Salesforce or CRM experience most valuable
  • Demonstrated ability to learn developer/coding skills through online resources
