Glaze-Crampes invited speaker at NABT conference

Amanda Glaze-Crampes, Ph.D., associate professor of science education in the Department of Middle Grades and Secondary Education, was one of four invited speakers for the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) Professional Development Conference, hosted in Atlanta, November 11-14.
Glaze-Crampes presented, “Overcoming Barriers to Scientific Literacy in the United States: Reflections and Vision for Evolution Education,” which addressed the skepticism of the public when faced with scientific knowledge and practices that are detrimental to society.
“Today science is pitted against culture, religion and other personal beliefs in ways that we, as scientists and scientific thinking, felt were surely becoming a phenomenon of the past,” explained Glaze-Crampes.
Additional distinguished guests included Anne Schuchat, MD, J. Marshall Shepherd, Ph.D., and Jeff Corwin, MA.
