New Learning Management System Storage Policy
In January 2025, the University System of Georgia announced the new Learning Management System Storage Policy. This policy, which aims to enhance system performance, ensures a consistent and stable online learning environment by limiting data stored within the Learning Management System (LMS) to five years of course content availability. The USG will implement this policy for Georgia Southern in our Folio (D2L Brightspace) environment beginning Summer 2025.
To assist with this transition, the Information Technology services team has created resources to assist you in preserving course content that exceeds the five year limit of the LMS. Click the links below for detailed instructions on exporting and saving course content in keeping with the USG Records Retention policy 0472-05-005:

Availability Period
The USG plans to begin removing Academic Courses for the period from 2011 through 2019 from the LMS. You will not be able to access these courses after June 15, 2025. Course removal at the system level will begin on July 16, 2025. Non-Academic Course removal will begin in Fall 2025. These courses will be accessible until October 5, 2025.
Further Information
Additional information is posted on the Folio Course Storage & Availability page. A list of specific courses slated for removal was sent to instructors via Folio on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
