Faculty art exhibition opens at Georgia Southern

The highly anticipated Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art faculty exhibition will be unveiled Friday, Sept. 8, with an opening reception from 7 – 9 p.m. in Georgia Southern’s Foy Fine Arts Building. The exhibition, which runs through October 13, kicks off the Georgia Southern University Gallery 303 visual arts season

The 06.07 Faculty Exhibition presents an opportunity to view the creative work of the diverse and noteworthy contemporary artists on the faculty. Artworks by current faculty and faculty emeriti range from traditional painting and sculpture to the technological media of digital imaging and Web design.

‘We invite the community to participate in a unique visual experience as they observe the diverse media and conceptual content of recent works created by our outstanding faculty,” said Patricia Carter, chair of the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art. ‘Students and community members can reap vast information about the disciplines we teach in the Department of Art.”

Throughout the month of the exhibition, six new faculty members will present a series of Artists’ Lectures, to be held at 5 p. m. on Wednesday evenings in Gallery 303. Featured will be: Sept. 20, Marc Moulton on sculpture; Sept. 27, Travis Linville on photography and Leigh Thomson on graphic design; Oct. 4, Mariana Depetris on printmaking; Oct. 11, Jeff Beekman on sculpture and Marsha Lott on painting.
