Industrial Organization Society’s annual international conference set for Savannah

More than 350 economists from around the world will converge in Savannah, Ga., in April to share their professional knowledge at the Industrial Organization Society’s annual international conference.

Georgia Southern University’s School of Economic Development is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the society and its affiliated journal, the Review of Industrial Organization.

‘The conference includes papers on topics such as regulation and antitrust law, international competitiveness, technological change, and transportation,” said John Howard Brown, an associate professor in the School of Economic Development and the chair of the conference’s local planning committee.

The conference will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center on the weekend of April 14-15.

‘This is the fifth year that the Industrial Organization Society will be hosting its spring conference,” said Kenneth D. Boyer, a professor of economics at Michigan State University and the chair of the conference planning committee. ‘In previous years, we have had between 300 and 400 people at our conferences, with attendees coming from more than 30 countries. We are excited to be coming to Savannah and to be able to experience Georgia in the springtime.”
