Get shipwrecked at Southern

Ahoy matey! Homecoming 2006 at Georgia Southern has adopted the theme ‘Eagles of the Caribbean: Shipwrecked at Southern.”

Events begin on Sunday, Oct. 15, and continue through Saturday, Oct. 21. The weeklong celebration will build to Saturday’s football game when the Eagles take on Appalachian State at noon in Paulson Stadium.

On-campus events throughout the week include movies, plundering for pirate booty and a lazy lagoon. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in the fifth annual GSU Idol, view the Doo-Dah/Step Show, as well as be entertained by comedy troupe Improv Asylum and illusionist Jason Bishop.

The community is invited to enjoy Homecoming at the following events:

  • Following the parade, a Homecoming party including free inflatables, novelty games, prizes, food, music and more will be held near Brannen and Sanford Halls on the pedestrium. Admission is free.
  • Shipwrecked Fireworks display at the J.I. Clements baseball stadium at 9 p.m. Followed by the outdoor movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.” Bring your blankets to watch the fireworks and movie under the stars.
