Abstinence Week Nov. 6-9
The Office of Health Education and Promotion is sponsoring Abstinence Week Monday, Nov. 6, through Thursday, Nov. 9. The theme of the week is ‘Abstinence is the Key.” The following events are planned:
- Monday, Nov. 6 – ‘If You Only Knew…” Stop by the table and learn about events planned for the week. Health Education Peer Educators will also be on hand. Russell Union Commons, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 7 -‘Safe Sex vs. Abstinence.” The issues of ‘safe sex” versus abstinence will be candidly discussed. Kenya Beard, a Georgia Southern alumna and abstinence educator at the Medical College of Georgia, will answer questions and clear up myths. Russell Union Room 2048, 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, Nov. 8 – ‘Everybody’s Doing It, Right?” Jason and Joshua will bring their talent of speaking and rapping to promote the message of abstinence. College of Information Technology Auditorium Room 1004, 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 9 – ’40 Days and 40 Nights.” This comedy chronicles a young man that decides to observe Lent by abstaining from sexual activity. Meanwhile, his ex wants him back and he meets the girl of his dreams. Russell Union Room TBA, 7 p.m.
