Georgia Southern’s Fall 2006 commencement is Dec. 8
Georgia Southern University will hold its fall commencement ceremonies Friday, Dec. 8, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. in the Hanner Fieldhouse, Highway 67 and Herty Drive. Degrees will be awarded to 898 undergraduate students and 223 graduate students, and these will be the first graduates to receive diplomas bearing the University’s new Centennial logo.
The fall commencement brings the University’s total number of graduates for the 2006 calendar year to 2,950.
Three ceremonies are needed to accommodate the graduates and their families. The first, held at 9 a.m., will include graduates from the College of Education, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and the College of Public Health. Speaker for the ceremony will be Donna L. Richter, dean of the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina.
The 11 a.m. ceremony will include graduates from the College of Business Administration, College of Information Technology, and the Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science. Speaker for the ceremony will be Charles Chandler, a retired executive from the paper industry.
The 1 p.m. ceremony will include graduates from the College of Science and Technology, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts, and the Interdisciplinary Bachelor of General Studies. Speaker for the ceremony will be Charles E. Perry, Jr., P.E., president and CEO of EMC Engineering Services, Inc.
The College of Graduate Studies will be represented at each of the commencement ceremonies.
