Class prepares HR managers for professional certification
Human resource practitioners can increase their career options by completing the 12-week ‘Certificate in Professional Human Resource Management” short course from Georgia Southern University this fall.
This non-credit ‘exam prep” course is offered in two formats: every Monday evening in Savannah for 12 weeks or every other Saturday in Brunswick for six weeks. Due to the Labor Day weekend, the Monday evening class starts on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The Saturday class begins Sept. 8.
With identical course content, either version assists individuals planning to sit for the national Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification exam in December or January.
The course is designed for managers and staff with experience in general management or human resource management, whether or not they are planning to take the PHR or SPHR certification exam.
The class Savannah meets from 6 to 9 p.m. each Monday through Nov. 19 at the Coastal Georgia Center. The Brunswick class runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with an hour lunch break) every other Saturday through Nov. 17 at the Coastal Georgia Community College.
Georgia Southern University’s Continuing Education Center runs the course in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. A leader in Human Resource education, SHRM has created the most complete certification preparation system available.
Registrants must attend a mandatory one-hour orientation session from 6 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 20 or Aug. 27 at the Coastal Georgia Center. SHRM Learning System course materials will be distributed during these two orientations sessions only.
The course fee of $925 includes the SHRM Learning System manuals, Learning System CD-ROM, instructor handouts and 36 hours of classroom instruction. SHRM members from local chapters or the national SHRM organization may register for $900 each.
Registration is through the University’s Continuing Education Center at 912-681-5551.
