New season at Performing Arts Center will open with Roy Clark concert on Sept. 28
The 2007-2008 season of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Georgia Southern University will open with a concert by one of America’s most popular and talented artists.
Country music legend Roy Clark will perform at the PAC on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m.
A critically acclaimed guitar player and long-time member of the Grand Ole Opry, Clark has been named Entertainer of the Year by both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the County Music Association (CMA).
He also served as co-host of the wildly popular ‘Hee Haw” television show for more than two decades.
Tickets for the Roy Clark concert are $35 per person for the general public. Georgia Southern faculty, staff and students will receive a $5 discount for each ticket.
In addition, if any tickets are available 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the performance, any Georgia Southern student with a valid University I.D. can purchase one ticket for $10.
Clark is one of the most highly decorated musicians in the history of country music. He is a four-time winner of the Picker of the Year award as determined by the Playboy Magazine Reader’s Poll, and a three-time winner of the Instrumentalist of the Year award presented by the CMA.
On two separate occasions, Clark was part of the CMA Instrumental Group of the year, and he was recognized as Lead Guitar Player of the Year by the ACM. He also has a Grammy Award to his credit.
In addition, Clark is a three-time winner of the ACM Comedy Act of the Year award for his work on ‘Hee Haw.” The first country music artist to guest host for Johnny Carson on ‘The Tonight Show,” he was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1987.
Clark is a member of the Gibson Guitar Hall of Fame, the Las Vegas Entertainers Hall of Fame, and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
The PAC is located on the Georgia Southern campus at the corner of Chandler Road and Plant Drive. The box office is open every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The box office is also open one hour prior to the start of each performance.
