School of Accountancy hosts career development expert Sept. 18

The School of Accountancy will host a presentation by Debbie Rodkin, executive director of RE: FOCUS ON CAREERS, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 4:15 p.m. Her presentation will take place in the multipurpose room of the Nessmith-Lane Building, and is open to all.

RE:FOCUS ON CAREERS is a networking organization dedicated to helping professionals with career development. Rodkin will be in Savannah to speak to the Georgia Society of CPAs, and she has agreed to travel to Statesboro and share her expertise with Georgia Southern students.

Her presentation will include an overview of networking, including helpful hints relating to name badges, business cards, 30-second elevator pitches, and preparing for and follow up after career fairs.

Rodkin received her M.B.A. from Georgia State University. Earlier in her career she offered networking events for The Layoff Lounge, an Internet-based program aimed at those careerists who are “corporate refugees.” The Layoff Lounge closed in 2004 when Donald Trump hired its CEO, Kelly Perdew, during the second season of The Apprentice, and Rodkin moved on to create RE: FOCUS ON CAREERS.
