Annual conference for composition teachers set for Feb. 1
The conference brings together college writing professors and high school English teachers in an effort to help bridge the gap between high school and college.
The Student Success organizing committee is accepting is accepting proposals for papers that address theory and practice in the teaching of composition. Suggested topics for proposals include, but are not limited to: successful teaching strategies, reading/writing connection, research practices, assessment of writing, collaborative learning strategies, multiculturalism, portfolios, and multimedia instruction.
All presenters must register in advance. The deadline for submitting a proposal is Tuesday, Oct. 16.
The conference is interdisciplinary, and educators from disciplines outside of composition are encouraged to submit proposals that explore the use of student writing in other classroom subjects. In addition, high school principals, media specialists and counselors are encouraged to attend.
The fee for the conference is $60 per person. The fee includes lunch.
