Georgia Southern University honors local Statesboro man
M. Albert Burke of Statesboro has been named Alumnus of the Year by Georgia Southern University’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
Burke is a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. He was honored at the University’s annual Alumni Awards Banquet Saturday, April 5, in Statesboro.
Burke received his bachelor’s degree in history in 1961. He has worked with the Boy Scouts of America since 1976 in various roles. He has also served as president of the Jaycees in Brunswick, Ga.; secretary of the Kiwanis Club in Brunswick, Ga.; and president of Rotary in Statesboro. From 1996 to 2003 he served as chair of the Bulloch County Board of Education.
