Georgia Southern University unveils catalog of Continuing Education courses

For the first time in six years, Georgia Southern University’s Continuing Education Center has published a catalog of its professional and personal development courses. The book was unveiled at a recent campus and community gathering.

The catalog is a colorful listing of the 123 options available this fall for companies and individuals in search of seminars, conferences and non-credit classes. The University’s Division of Continuing Education conducted market research and focus groups in Bulloch and the surrounding counties to determine the courses that would best serve the region’s needs.

‘This is the first time in a half-dozen years that we’ve collected the majority of our programs between two covers to share with the public,” said Tony Bretti, director of the Center and assistant dean in the Division of Continuing Education and Public Service. ‘We’ll be mailing copies throughout our primary service area, including Bulloch, Candler, Bryan and Evans counties. We’ll also have copies inserted in this Sunday’s Statesboro Herald.”

Programs range in content and scope from a two-hour ‘Breakfast Eggstravaganza” cooking seminar (set for Saturday, Aug. 9) to ‘Leadership Skills for the Front-Line Manager,” a class in Savannah that runs for eight Wednesday morning beginning Sept. 25.

Professional development courses include preparation for certification exams or recertification credit hours in such areas as human resources, real estate, fiber optics, septic tank installation, and OSHA standards. Many online courses are available as well.
