Georgia Southern University Director of Audit and Advisory Services Jana Briley Named to National Position

eagleheadGeorgia Southern University Director of Audit and Advisory Services Jana Briley, has been named director for the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA) Midyear Conferences. The three-year appointment will begin March 2011.

ACUA is a professional organization comprised of audit professionals from colleges and universities across the globe. Representing more than 500 institutions, ACUA provides members with specialized training, information and resources. The Midyear Conference is designed as a two-and-one-half day intensive instructional course. Briley will lead the development and execution of the annual event.

Briley, a 21-year employee of Georgia Southern University, has served as director of Audit and Advisory Services since Nov. 2009. Prior to her current role, she was an auditor in Georgia Southern University’s Office of Audit and Advisory Services. Earlier, she served as an accountant and coordinator of Annual Fund accounts with the Georgia Southern University Foundation. She began her career as an accounting assistant.

“I am honored to be selected to serve in this leadership role,” said Briley. ” ACUA brings together audit professionals including internal auditors, compliance and risk officers from around the world and I am pleased to be able to represent Georgia Southern University.”

Briley earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Master of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Georgia Southern University. She completed the College Business Management Institute, a three-year program at the University of Kentucky.

She is certified as a Certified Internal Auditor by The Institute of Internal Auditors and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Association of College and University Auditors and of the Gamma Beta Phi Society, a national honor society promoting academic excellence.
