Georgia Southern University Announces Homecoming Events
Georgia Southern University alumni will return to campus next week for the University’s annual Homecoming Celebration.
The weeklong celebration themed “Wild Wild West in the Eagle’s Nest” will feature a number of Western-style festivities for University supporters, alumni, and Eagle fans of all ages to enjoy.
Alumni Director Frank Hook said that Homecoming is the perfect time for the University community to unite in celebration of its accomplishments, both new and old. “Homecoming is always a great opportunity for alumni and friends to return to campus and reconnect with the people and places they love,” Hook said. “The University has an opportunity to share recent achievements with its greatest supporters, and alumni get to reminisce about the past while creating new memories.”
The week’s highlights include the Eagle Rally at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Russell Union Rotunda. The annual homecoming parade will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and will wind its way around the University’s Sweetheart Circle. After the parade, the Homecoming celebration on Sweetheart Circle will continue and will feature a free outdoor showing of the newly released movie “Despicable Me.”
Homecoming week wraps up on Saturday when the Georgia Southern Eagles face Appalachian State at 2 p.m. in Paulson Stadium. A full list of activities is available online at www.georgiasouthern.edu.
