Georgia Southern University Collecting Snacks for Soldiers
Georgia Southern University is joining forces with the Adopt-A-Soldier program to collect “Snacks for Soldiers” serving overseas.
The University is collecting non-perishable snacks that will be shipped to soldiers from our region of the country serving overseas. In addition to snacks, the University is collecting cards for the soldiers and monetary donations to help offset the cost of shipping the snacks.
The community is invited to show their support for the Adopt-A-Soldier program by dropping off donations at the Georgia Southern campus by Friday, Sept. 30. Snack items should not be homemade, and should not contain any ingredients that will melt easily. Items to consider donating include individual sizes of crackers, chips, fruit snacks, trail mix, granola bars, beef jerky, nuts, gum and hard candy. Donations of cards with words of encouragement for our troops are also being accepted.
Donations may be dropped off at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center or the Russell Union Student Center, Room 2024 on the campus from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 30.
For more information on how to make a donation, please contact Jodi Middleton in Georgia Southern’s Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement at 912-478-1435.
