Georgia Southern University to Host International Festival
Georgia Southern University will host the 6th Annual International Festival on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park in Statesboro.
The festival, which is sponsored by the University’s Center for International Studies, as well as other departments on campus and various local businesses in the community, brings together different cultures in a celebration of music, dance and art. The festival is free and open to the public, and will feature a variety of activities for people of all ages.
Event activities include international cuisine, performances on the Pearce & Pearce World Stage, a bazaar area where international items may be purchased and an arts and crafts area for children called “It’s A Small World” where they can create Chinese lanterns, hanging Japanese fish, Mexican Ojo de Dios or have their name written in Japanese, Chinese or Arabic.
In addition, local middle school classes are also participating in the Global Village. School groups from Bulloch, Emanuel and Screven counties are partnering with the University’s Global Ambassadors Program to create country booths that will educate festival visitors about a variety of countries around the globe. A number of Georgia Southern’s international students, who are from more than 100 countries, will also be on hand to help enrich the cultural and learning experience.
