Georgia Southern University Parent & Family Association Endows $25,000 Leadership Scholarship
Georgia Southern University’s Parent & Family Association has endowed a $25,000 Leadership Scholarship that will benefit current and future students of association members.
As part of endowing the new scholarship, the Parent & Family Association will contribute a minimum of $5,000 during each of the next five years. The Parent Council, a group of active parent volunteers that help plan, direct and support the programs and mission of the Association and the University, voted to establish the scholarship. To launch the new scholarship, Greg Francisco, Ph.D., president of the Parent Council, personally donated an additional $500 to support outstanding students.
This endowment is in addition to Parent & Family Association academic and leadership scholarships offered each academic year, for which students of association members may apply. During the 2011-2012 academic year, the association awarded more than $20,000 to outstanding students pursuing their degrees at Georgia Southern.
“We are thrilled that Georgia Southern’s Parent & Family Association is endowing this new scholarship,” said Teresa Thompson, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Georgia Southern. “The scholarship will not only benefit current students, but will recognize the outstanding achievements of the University’s students for generations to come.”
Georgia Southern’s Parent & Family Association is made of up of parents of current University students.
