Georgia Southern Mascot Wins Nike+ Mascot Trot at Georgia State Capitol
Gus, Georgia Southern’s popular mascot, scored a major victory on Saturday March 10, 2012 defeating nearly 20 other university and professional mascots in Georgia Lt. Governor Casey Cagle’s second annual Nike+ Mascot Trot.
Gus was at the State Capitol as part of Be Healthy Georgia Day, a program started by the Lt. Governor to educate children and families on how to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. While at the event, Gus visited with Atlanta families as well as numerous Georgia Southern alumni that stopped by to say hello.
He later competed in the race and edged out Harry The Hawk of the Atlanta Hawks’ NBA team to score first place.
