Georgia Southern University to Host 7th Annual International Festival

eagleheadGeorgia Southern University will host the 7th annual International Festival on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park in Statesboro.

The festival is hosted by Georgia Southern’s Center for International Studies and is sponsored by a variety of departments on campus and several businesses in the community.  The unique festival brings together different cultures in a celebration of music, dance, and art. The festival is free of charge and open to the public.

Activities will include: cuisine, performances on the World Stage, a bazaar area where items may be purchased, and a free arts and crafts area for the children called “It’s A Small World.”  In this area, children can create Kabuki Warrior masks, Mexican paper flowers and Chinese lanterns or have their names written in Japanese, Chinese or Arabic.

In addition, local middle and high school classes, as well as homeschool groups, are also participating in the Global Village. School groups from Bulloch, Emanuel, Jenkins, and Screven counties are partnering with the University’s Global Ambassadors Program to create country booths that will educate festival visitors about a variety of countries around the globe. A number of Georgia Southern’s international students, who attend the growing University from more than 100 countries around the world, will also be on hand to help enrich the cultural learning experience.
