Medicaid Reform Joint Committee to Hear Testimony at Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern University will host members of the Joint Study Committee on Medicaid Reform during a meeting on Monday, Oct. 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center, 847 Plant Drive.

The committee is comprised of six members of the Georgia House of Representatives, six from the state Senate and six appointments by Gov. Nathan Deal to represent the Department of Community Health, hospitals, insurers, nursing homes, physicians and consumers. They are looking at how Georgia’s Medicaid program functions as compared to other states and determining how to best maintain and fund the health services available through Medicaid.

During the meeting, lawmakers will hear testimony by Georgia Southern faculty from the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health as well as the School of Nursing.

The Medicaid Reform Study Committee meeting is open to the public. Georgia Southern faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to attend.
