Georgia Southern Welcomes All Eagle Kin this Fall Family Weekend
Georgia Southern’s Office of Orientation and Parent Programs will host the annual Fall Family Weekend, a weekend of school spirit and family bonding, Sept. 18 -20.
This jam-packed weekend will kick off with the annual Block Party in front of the University Store. Expect great music, give-away prizes and free food during the party. The University Store and Tech Corner will be open during the block party, so families can stock up on spirit merchandise before the big game.
Once the weekend kicks off, visitors can expect everything from campus tours to a catered pre-game tailgate. Families are invited to participate in the variety of other activities leading up to the GS victory over the Citadel like the planetarium showing of Dynamic Earth and the University Programming Board’s outdoor movie, Jurassic World as well.
In addition to the other events, the Parent & Family Association will host a general meeting on Sat., Sept. 19 in the Russell Union Theater from 10-11 a.m. to present guest speaker Dr. Theresa Thompson, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, as well as the organization’s scholarship recipients for the year.
Families may also choose to participate in the Parent Programs’ Silent Auction. All proceeds raised from the auction will support student leadership scholarships through the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management.
“Parents and families are some of the strongest supporters of a student’s success,” said Alex Thomas, coordinator of Orientation and Parent Programs. “We are excited to help reconnect students and their families this weekend with a variety of fun events and activities!”
