Fall 2016 Commencement to be held at Paulson Stadium

Upon the request and recommendation of students through the Student Government Association (SGA), the University’s Fall 2016 Commencement ceremony for graduate and undergraduate students is being moved from Hanner Fieldhouse to Allen E. Paulson Stadium, and will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. Tickets will not be required for entrance to the ceremony at Paulson Stadium.

“We are so proud of SGA for listening to our students’ request for this change and bringing this recommendation to the University administration,” said Teresa Thompson, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “SGA President Dylan John and his administration are true leaders who respond to the needs of students. This change is a wonderful example of how SGA should work and confirms the continued student-centered approach by Georgia Southern University.”

In the event that Georgia Southern has to implement the rain plan for commencement, three ceremonies will be held at Hanner Fieldhouse and tickets will be required. Due to capacity limitations at Hanner Fieldhouse, each candidate will be issued four (4) tickets for their guests.
