Alumna designs 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities
Georgia Southern University alumna Shaunté Francois was selected to design the 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities. Francois, a jewelry and small metals artist, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (3D Studio Arts) in 2015.

Fall 2016 Commencement to be held at Paulson Stadium
Upon the request and recommendation of students through the Student Government Association (SGA), the University’s Fall 2016 Commencement ceremony for graduate and undergraduate students is being moved from Hanner Fieldhouse to Allen E. Paulson Stadium, and will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. Tickets will not be required for entrance to the ceremony at Paulson Stadium.

Georgia Southern President Jaimie Hebert hosts Town Hall event
During his first 100 days as Georgia Southern University’s 13th president, Jaimie Hebert, Ph.D., listened to alumni, faculty, staff and the community by asking them to share their thoughts with him through a unique survey open since July 1. In a town hall event on Monday, Oct. 17, he shared the results of the survey and discussed his vision for the University.

Game Day Mayday
Thousands of alumni and fans will flock to Allen E. Paulson Stadium for two Thursday night football games this season: Oct. 27 against Appalachian State University and Nov. 10 against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Georgia Southern to host first TEDxGeorgiaSouthernU event
Georgia Southern University will host TEDxGeorgiaSouthernU on Friday, Oct. 28, 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the University’s Black Box Theatre, located in the Center for Art & Theatre at 233 Pittman Drive, Statesboro. The theme for this year’s event is “Connecting Creatively.” Registration is now open and available through GeorgiaSouthern.edu/TEDx with limited seats available.
