Alumnus Luke Bryan to perform at Super Bowl LI

Luke Bryan (’99), Georgia Southern alumnus and award-winning country music artist, has been selected to perform the national anthem at the 51st Super Bowl, making him the first male performer to sing the anthem in 10 years and the first country artist to perform it since 2010.


Annual Feed the Mosasaur event to take place this March

The Georgia Southern Museum’s 11th annual “Feed the Mosasaur” gourmet event will take place on Saturday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center Ballroom. Reservations must be made by Feb. 17.

Faculty Spotlight: Li Li

This installment of Faculty Spotlight features Li Li, Ph.D., professor in the School of Health and Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Primarily a research professor, Li works with both students and faculty to construct experiments and collect data for their research. Li is also a specialist in the human gait, and has created research projects with the University and with private industries to study the way people walk and balance.


Georgia Southern receives national recognition for support of Military-Connected Students

Georgia Southern University has been named a Top School in the 2017 Military Advanced Education & Transition (MAE&T) research study, and has also been given the Military Friendly Designation (MFD) with a gold ranking from Victory Media.

Victoria “Tori” Murry, senior public relations major, was crowned Miss Georgia Southern University at the 69th annual pageant hosted by the University Programming Board (UPB) on Saturday, Jan. 21.


Georgia Southern team wins first place at NRF Foundation GALA

A team of Georgia Southern students receivedfirst place for the 2017 Student Challenge, a business case competition for National Retail Federation (NRF) Student Association members to demonstrate their creativity and business acumen to retail executives, sponsored by KPMG. The finalists attended the NRF Foundation GALA in New York City, where the top team was announced Jan. 15.


Georgia Southern College of Business Faculty recognized

Alan Mackelprang, Ph.D., associate professor of operations management and director of the Ph.D. program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Georgia Southern, was announced as the 2016 winner of the Carol J. Latta Memorial Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) Emerging Leadership Award.


Georgia Southern students present research at Harvard University conference

Four students in the School of Health and Kinesiology, with support from professors Daniel Czech, Ph.D., and Li Li, Ph.D., in the College of Health and Human Sciences, will attend and present research at Harvard University’s National Undergraduate Research Conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from Jan. 19 to 21.
