Georgia Southern University ROTC Collecting Snacks for Soldiers
Georgia Southern University’s U.S. Army ROTC Eagle Battalion is joining forces with the Adopt-A-Soldier program to provide “Snacks for Soldiers” serving overseas. Eagle Nation fans are invited to contribute to the cause during Georgia Southern’s Military Appreciation Day football game on Saturday, Oct. 22.
The Eagle Battalion is collecting non-perishable snacks that will be sent to members of the 82nd Airborne. The community is invited to drop off donations at collection boxes that will be set up outside Gates 6 and 7 at Paulson Stadium from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday. Snack items should not be homemade, and should not contain any ingredients that will melt easily. Items you may want to consider donating include individual sizes of crackers, chips, fruit snacks, trail mix, granola bars, beef jerky, nuts, gum and hard candy. Monetary donations to help offset the cost of shipping are also being accepted.
This is the second “Snacks for Soldiers” drive at Georgia Southern this fall. In September, University students donated more than 5,200 snacks that were delivered to U.S. soldiers serving in Kabul, Afghanistan.
