Georgia Southern University Planetarium to Unveil Images from NASA’s Great Observatories

The Georgia Southern Planetarium will take visitors on a journey to the center of our Galaxy when it unveils unprecedented mural-sized images of the Milky Way’s core as seen by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer Space Telescope, and Chandra X-ray Observatory. The images will be unveiled November 13, 2009 at 7 p.m. before the public evening presentation, The Lives of Stars. The stunning photographs of the central region of our Galaxy commemorate the International Year of Astronomy, which marks the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s use of the telescope to explore space. The new images will be on permanent display in the planetarium lobby and may be seen weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The planetarium is closed on University holidays.

The Georgia Southern Planetarium is located in the Math/Physics Building across Herty Drive from Hanner Fieldhouse on the campus of Georgia Southern University.
