LivinGreen program to promote environmental protection
As part of Welcome Week, Georgia Southern University students will be encouraged to think green.
The LivinGreen program will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in and around the Russell Union Student Center rotunda. LivinGreen will offer a number of exhibits to educate and inspire students on how to reduce their impact on the environment.
The Office of Student Activities (OSA) will distribute shopping bags that list 10 ways Georgia Southern students can live green. OSA will also hand out reusable cups; every time students take the cups to an Eagle Cinema movie, they will receive free refills of drinks and popcorn.
In addition, Georgia Power will give away 1,000 energy-efficient light bulbs. Each student who completes the Energy Star Change a Light Pledge will receive a free compact fluorescent light.
Information booths will be set up by several other organizations: Campus Recreation and Intramurals/Wellness; Physical Plant Recycle Program; Southern Adventures; SAGE; Office of Sustainability; GeoClub; Center for Wildlife Education; and Student Leadership and Civic Engagement.
