Daigle wins CLASS Award for Excellence
Leah E. Daigle has been honored by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at Georgia Southern University.
An assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, Daigle is the 2007 winner of the CLASS Award for Excellence.
The award recognizes outstanding activity by a faculty member in the early stages of their career. Nominees for the award must be full-time faculty members in CLASS in the first 10 years of teaching at the college level. They must also be outstanding in a wide range of activities, including teaching, scholarship or creative activity, service and advisement.
Daigle joined Georgia Southern’s faculty in 2005. She is the assistant director of the justice studies program and has taught courses in criminal justice, criminal behavior and corrections.
Her research interests are delinquency and crime over the life-course, criminological theory, sexual victimization, genders issues in criminology, and effectiveness of correctional treatment.
Daigle has published more than a dozen articles and book chapters. She has presented papers at more than 15 conferences and served as an external reviewer for more than 10 professional journals and publications.
Daigle earned a B.A. degree in criminal justice from Roanoke College, an M.S. degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University, and a Ph.D. in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati.
