Museum will sponsor trip to Ocmulgee Indian Celebration
The Georgia Southern Museum is sponsoring a Coastal Plain Adventures trip to the Ocmulgee National Monument for the 15th annual Ocmulgee Indian Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Located in Macon, Ga., the Ocmulgee National Monument preserves a continuous record of human life in the Southeast from 12,000 years ago to the present. The 702-acre park includes ancient earthen mounds and a museum.
The Ocmulgee Indian Celebration will feature hundreds of dancers, singers, storytellers, artists, craftsmen and authentic food from all five of the Southeastern Civilized Tribes.
The Georgia Southern Museum group will leave from Statesboro on a chartered bus on Sept. 16 at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 7 p.m. Reservations are required and all participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
For members of the Museum, the cost is $35 per person for those over the age of 12 and $30 per person for children 12 and under. For non-members, the cost is $45 per person for those over the age of 12 and $40 per person for children 12 and under.
The fee includes transportation and admission to the festival.
