Georgia Southern University alumnus and famed Country singer Luke Bryan will visit the Statesboro area during his annual Farm Tour at Perry Field on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in Claxton. A portion of the proceeds from the tour will provide scholarships for Georgia Southern students.

“We’re grateful to those alums who remember Georgia Southern through their gifts of scholarship. The students and families of these scholarship recipients are very thankful for those who give back in this way,” said Salinda Arthur, vice president for University Advancement. “Universities and colleges are more competitive when they can offer scholarships that benefit students.”

Fans of Bryan’s will receive an additional treat when former Georgia Southern Eagle and country music star Cole Swindell kicks-off the tour as his opening act.

Bryan, who graduated from Georgia Southern in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, came up with the idea for the Farm Tour concerts as a way to give back to local farming communities by celebrating and lifting up the American farmer and offering a fun escape with the outdoor shows.

“People like Luke Bryan, who have done well in their profession, have the opportunity to give back and positively affect the lives of many students and their families,” said Arthur. “He’s setting a great example.”

This will be the fifth year for the event.
