School of Nursing Ranks in Top 10 for the 2015 Top Online Nursing Programs

According to OnlineU, the School of Nursing at Georgia Southern online RN-BSN Nursing Program has been ranked eighth out of 25 similar online nursing programs across the nation.

Criteria for the rankings included high academic standards and have received accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (CCNE). To determine what school qualified as having high academic standards, school had to have a 90% pass rate or higher for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the primary examination for licensing nurses in the United States and Canada. The school’s standing also was determined through evaluation of its acceptance rates, enrollments rates, entrance exam scores and strength of the student body.

“With the online nursing program only requiring 28 credit hours, tuition costs for both in-state and out-of-state students are lower than many other nursing programs,” said Kathy Thornton, Ph.D., R.N., director of the University’s RN-BSN Nursing program. “The Online Nursing Program’s academic quality, low tuition, flexibility and personal advising continue to make the program very appealing.”

The RN-BSN program at Georgia Southern is designed exclusively for individuals who are currently Registered Nurses and wish to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and achieve professional advancement and personal enrichment. The affordable, flexible and individualized program enables students to enroll part-time or full-time with faculty led courses. The online program is identical to conventional classroom teaching; however, instructional methods that fit the requirements of online education are employed within the courses.

Georgia Southern University’s School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. For more information on the Georgia Southern Online Nursing Program, visit GeorgiaSouthern.edu/nursing.
