Center for Sustainability to Host Annual GreenFest
The Georgia Southern Center for Sustainability (CfS) is taking over the Bulloch County courthouse lawn on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the third annual GreenFest event. This celebration of sustainable activities is sure to have everyone in the community going green.
“GreenFest is community celebration of sustainability where participants can arrive with questions and walk away with solutions in hand,” said Lissa Leege, Ph.D., director of CfS. “We have many new vendors and workshops this year, and the live music and festival atmosphere will be fun for everyone!”
The free community event will include exhibits, vendors, workshops, live music and activities for all ages, including GreenFest workshops to help save green while living green. The CfS encourages everyone to participate in sustainable activities such as creating a bee house, tie-dying and creating an aquaponic garden during GreenFest.
This year GreenFest will feature a pallet challenge to entice competition for sustainable creativity. Teams or individuals can pick up used pallets, create something new and unique and enter the competition for the best idea. A “celebrity panel” will judge the final creations during GreenFest and announce the winners at noon. “I’m especially looking forward to our inaugural pallet challenge this year to see what our creative community has designed from used wood pallets,” said Leege.
Last year GreenFest drew more than 1,200 visitors and 40 vendors.
