2019 The use of silver trifluoromethanesulfonate (silver triflate, AgOTf) as a halide abstraction reagent is pervasive in organometallic chemistry. However, recent reports suggest a “hidden” Brønsted acid lurks within it that may catalyze purported metal-based catalysis.
Bis(pyrazolyl)acetate and bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)acetate tris-acetonitrile ruthenium(II) complexes: Synthesis, properties, and structure

2017 [(η6-p-cymene)RuI2]2 (1) was reacted with the heteroscorpionate ligands, bis(pyrazolyl)acetic acid (BPAH) or bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazoly)acetic acid (BMPAH), in the presence of potassium carbonate under various conditions to yield cationic Ru(II) complexes.
C-H Activation of Pyrazolyl Ligand by Ru(II)
Inorg. ChemJoslin, E. E.; Quillian, B.; Gunnoe, T. B.; Cundari, T. R.; Sabat, M.; Myers, W. H.
2014 Previously, hydridotris(pyrazolyl)borate (Tp) Ru(II) alkyl and aryl complexes of the type TpRu(L)(NCMe)R (R = methyl or aryl; L = charge-neutral two-electron donating ligand) were demonstrated to activate aromatic C–H bonds.
“2,2,2-Tris(pyrazolyl)ethoxide (EpOX) Ruthenium (II) Complexes, (EpOX)RuCl(L)(L′): Synthesis, Structure and Reactivity”
Inorg. Chem.Quillian, B.; Joslin, E. E.; Sabat, M.; Gunnoe, T. B.; Sabat, M.; Myers, B.
2013 2,2,2-Tris(pyrazolyl)ethanol (EpOX) has been utilized as a facially κ3-N,N,O-coordinating ligand on a series of Ru(II) complexes. The image shows that the PPh3 ligands can be substituted with other ligands to provide several new Ru(II) compounds of the type (EpOX)RuCl(L)(L′). The compounds convert into cationic tris(pyrazolyl)methane Ru(II) complexes upon heating in chloroform.
