Nursing a New Pathway
Georgia Southern has a new pathway program for registered nurses who want to pursue advanced nursing degrees. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Pathway allows students to exit the program with a Master of Science degree and take the national certification exam or go on to earn the DNP, the highest possible degree in nursing practice. Deborah Allen, graduate program director for the School of Nursing, says the change means better quality of care for patients and reaffirms Georgia Southern’s “commitment to meeting the educational preparation necessary for nurse practitioners to work in the ever-changing healthcare environment.”
