Welcoming the Class of 2030 at New Student Convocation

Georgia Southern University welcomed more than 6,000 students at New Student Convocation, marking the University’s largest class of first-year students in history and the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. President Kyle Marrero led the celebration and, in his remarks, offered valuable guidance to the Eagles.

“There is no one-size-fits-all college experience,” he said. “But what each of these students has in common is that they chose to step up, step out and soar beyond the classroom. And here’s the good news — you won’t do this alone. Our faculty, advisors, mentors and staff are here to help you find your way. We’ll be with you for the big wins — and the setbacks. We’re invested in who you’re becoming.”

The Convocation ceremonies were held on the Statesboro, Armstrong and East Georgia campuses, with lunch or dinner served immediately afterward.
