The University has partnered with Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) and Ogeechee Technical College to develop more programs and curricula related to the growing electric vehicle (EV) market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presidents of Georgia Southern University, Ogeechee Technical College and HMGMA signed agreements that formalize the schools\u2019 commitments to educate engineers and skilled maintenance and production workers for the electric vehicle manufacturing complex under construction in Bryan County near Statesboro and Savannah. The plant is expected to create more than 8,000 jobs after it opens in 2025. The Georgia Southern agreement focuses on key areas of collaboration that include recruitment services, academic collaboration, professional development and research partnerships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis partnership stands as a testament to the value of collaboration between academia and industry in driving holistic growth,\u201d said Georgia Southern President Kyle Marrero. \u201cBy uniting forces, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America and Georgia Southern University are forging a path that not only elevates educational opportunities but also cultivates a thriving community equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By bridging the gap between academia and industry, the University is ensuring that its students are well-prepared for the demands of the professional world. Georgia Southern also will offer professional development certifications and courses for the company\u2019s employees through its Continuing and Professional Education programs.
