The Georgia General Assembly has approved funding for the DREAMS Scholarship program proposed by Gov. Brian Kemp. The state legislature allocated $300 million to establish the DREAMS Scholarship endowment, which the Georgia Student Finance Commission will administer. The budget also included $25 million in scholarships starting this fall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The need-based aid builds on an effort launched by the University System of Georgia (USG) last year to support both USG students and students in the Technical College System of Georgia. The DREAMS Scholarship is another resource intended to help students pursue a college degree. This funding is expected to help financially disadvantaged students for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aid will supplement Georgia\u2019s existing HOPE Scholarship, which covers the full cost of tuition for students with a 3.0 GPA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Georgia\u2019s first statewide need-based college scholarship is now a reality.
