Brian M. Deloach, M.D., the medical director of Student Health Services was awarded the Outstanding Attending Faculty in Family Medicine award from the Mercer School of Medicine, Savannah Campus, where he is a clinical teaching faculty member.<\/p>\n
He was recognized for providing positive learning experiences for medical school students as their attending teaching physician. As medical director for Student Health Services, Deloach supervises and provides the delivery of comprehensive medical care to Georgia Southern\u2019s student population, while also supervising a clinical team. Upon receiving the award, Deloach praised his staff. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was surprised, because a student health center is not what most people would consider a \u2018traditional\u2019 family medicine experience; and, I think the medical students were surprised by the variety of acute and chronic conditions, and of patient age groups, that we see here,\u201d said Deloach. \u201cBut even more than being surprised, I was proud for our Health Center and our staff, because each of our staff played a role in making the rotation a positive learning experience for the medical students.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWorking with Dr. Deloach was a joy,\u201d said Stephanie Tootle, medical student. \u201cHe was so kind and welcoming to me, as he was to all the students from Mercer who rotated through his office. He is a great teacher who keeps a positive attitude. Dr. Deloach keeps the students involved and interested. He allowed us to watch procedures and look at slides in the lab under the microscope. His office staff seemed to truly respect him and enjoy working with him, and I definitely did.\u201d<\/p>\n
Deloach also serves as medical director for the University\u2019s Athletic Training Education Program, athletic training services at the Recreation Activity Center and the School of Nursing Rural Nursing Outreach Program Clinic. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
