1970s<\/h2>\n

Pratt Hill<\/strong> (\u201872,) and John Lee\u2019s<\/strong> (\u201882) agency, Lee, Hill and Johnston Insurors in Statesboro, has achieved the \u201cOn Your Side\u201d Master Farm Certification designation from Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance Company. \u201cWe\u2019re honored to receive this certification,\u201d said Hill, who became a partner in the local agency in 1984. Lee, a managing partner, said the locally-owned independent agency is committed \u201cto help protect farmers in our area with the highest levels of professionalism and service.\u201d<\/p>\n

1980s<\/h2>\n

Mark L. Burns<\/strong> (\u201883) has been appointed the next president of Gulfstream Aerospace. The 32-year Gulfstream veteran will assume his new role on July 1, 2015. Burns has been president of product support for the corporation since June 2008. He earned a bachelor\u2019s in industrial engineering from Georgia Southern University.<\/p>\n

Phil Moore<\/strong> (\u201882) has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Accountants in Georgia by the National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals. He is a managing partner of the Atlanta-based firm Porter Keadle Moore.<\/p>\n

1990s<\/h2>\n

Kelly Tankersley<\/strong> (\u201897, \u201899) was named Special Education Teacher of the Year for Effingham County, Georgia.<\/p>\n

Bruce Rogers<\/strong>, Ed.D., (\u201896, \u201897, \u201910) was presented with the 2014 School Psychologist of the Year award by the Georgia Association of School Psychologists. He is a school psychologist for public schools in Bulloch County, Georgia.<\/p>\n

Russell McMurry<\/strong> (\u201891) has been named the new commissioner of the Georgia Department of Transportation. He joined the department in 1990 as a civil engineering trainee, and his experience in the department has ranged from serving as a project manager to a district engineer.<\/p>\n

Finance graduate Gary Spinks<\/strong> (\u201896) recently co-founded and launched the new marketing analytics\/market research company Bug Insights with headquarters in Atlanta and Houston.<\/p>\n

2000s<\/h2>\n

Business Management graduate Wayne Murphy<\/strong> (\u201804) was selected to serve on the Young Alumni Advisory Board for Georgia Southern\u2019s College of Business Administration.<\/p>\n

Nathan Corbitt<\/strong>, CPA, (\u201805) has been promoted to wealth advisor at the Brightworth financial planning and wealth management firm. Corbitt began his career with regional public accounting firms as a specialist in the taxation of high net worth individuals, executive compensation and tax legislation and research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
