The initiative, focused on pushing the needle on student\nsuccess through course enrichment, includes representatives from each USG\ninstitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nGeorgia Southern Scholars are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>David Bringman, DPT, the\nRehabilitation Sciences program coordinator and assistant professor in the Waters College of Health Professions<\/li><li>Shainaz Landge, Ph.D., an assistant\nprofessor of organic chemistry in the College of Science and\nMathematics and<\/li><li>Glenda Ogletree, Ph.D., an associate professor of\nelementary and special education in the College of&nbsp; Education.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cIt is a great opportunity to meet people who want to try new things in teaching and learning,\u201d said Landge. \u201cThe group consists of like-minded faculty who are curious, willing to learn and eager to discuss new ideas.\u201d<br><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the two-year program, Georgia Southern\u2019s Learning Scholars receive support and training through the Georgia Center for Teaching and Learning, Georgia Southern\u2019s Center for Teaching Excellence and through opportunities provided by the statewide Chancellor\u2019s Learning Scholars community. As Scholars, they will lead Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) or small groups of faculty to share ideas about teaching and learning practices. Research&nbsp;&nbsp; shows that making small changes in teaching can lead to big results for students. The FLCs meet regularly throughout the program to explore the areas of interest that will lead to changes in each participant\u2019s teaching practices. At the end of the program, each&nbsp;&nbsp; FLC member should be able to pinpoint a change or innovation they enacted in the classroom, activity or course materials as a result of their FLC participation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three Georgia Southern University faculty members have been selected as Chancellor\u2019s Learning Scholars, part of a new program established by the University System of Georgia (USG).
